Benefits of Breastfeeding

It’s not secret that I am a breastfeeding advocate, I try to make women’s breastfeeding experience comfortable and easy for a living, and I myself nursed my daughter for two years.
For me that decision to breastfeed came easy, my mother nursed me for a year and a half and my brother for two and a half, so when I was pregnant I didn’t really consider not breastfeeding. And then I learned about all the benefits…
Breastfeeding wasn’t always easy for me, I had to use a nipple shield the first couple of months because my daughter couldn’t latch onto my tiny nipples and after about four months my nipples were so sore I thought I was going to die every time I nursed. (It got better..) And my girl was a marathon nurser; for a while there I counted that I spend about eight hours a day breastfeeding… But with the help of a great lactation consultant and a lot of patience, and knowing that you are doing yourself and your baby a huge favor I think most Mamas are able to nurse their babies.
So what are some of the benefits of breastfeeding?
